Estate Cleanout
Estate Cleanout in Salt Lake County and Utah County. Respectful help clearing a home after a loss, a downsize, or a move to care.
Clearing out a loved one's home is one of the hardest jobs a family takes on. There is the emotional weight, the volume of belongings collected over decades, and often a deadline from a sale, a lease, or a care facility move. We help families finish the physical work with patience and respect, so you can focus on the decisions that matter.
What we take
- Whole-home contents
- Furniture and appliances
- Basements, attics, and crawl spaces
- Sheds, garages, and outbuildings
- Kitchenware, linens, and household goods
- Clothing and personal items (after family review)
- Books, papers, and boxes
- Yard and patio items
Working at your pace
Every family handles an estate differently. Some have already sorted the house and need everything remaining hauled away. Others want to go room by room over several visits. We are comfortable with either. There is no pressure to make every decision at once, and we will not rush you.
If several family members are involved, it helps to agree ahead of time on what is being kept. Colored tape, sticky notes, or a single room for keepers makes it clear to everyone, including our crew.
Protecting what matters
Estate homes sometimes hold important things in unexpected places: documents in a dresser drawer, photos in a closet box, cash in a coat pocket. Before we begin, please go through the home for paperwork, photographs, jewelry, and anything sentimental. If our crew finds something that looks personal or valuable while loading, we stop and set it aside for you.
Some families use an estate sale company or appraiser before a cleanout. If that is part of your plan, schedule us after they finish.
Downsizing and moves to care
Not every estate cleanout follows a loss. Many are part of a parent moving to a smaller home, an assisted living community, or in with family. These moves often come with a firm move date. We can clear what is not making the trip so the home is ready to sell or return to a landlord.
Pricing for estate cleanouts
Estate cleanouts are priced by volume, which means how much truck space everything takes, along with access factors like stairs, basements, or long carries. A partly emptied home costs less than a fully furnished one. We provide an upfront quote before work begins. For larger homes, we may suggest a walkthrough or ask for photos of each room.
Timing
Estate cleanouts are usually scheduled in advance, especially for full homes. We do our best to meet closing dates and lease deadlines, but timing is subject to availability. Reaching out early, even before you have finished sorting, gives you the most flexibility.
Donation and recycling
Estates often include furniture, kitchenware, linens, and household goods that can help another family. We set usable items aside for donation when local organizations are accepting them, and we recycle metal, electronics, and cardboard when options exist. If your family prefers a particular charity, tell us and we will try to accommodate it, though acceptance is up to that organization.
Where we offer estate cleanout
We provide estate cleanout throughout Salt Lake County and Utah County, from Salt Lake City, Millcreek, and West Valley City down through Sandy, Draper, and Herriman, and across the Utah County line into Lehi, American Fork, Orem, Provo, Spanish Fork, and Payson. If you are not sure whether your address is in our area, include your city or ZIP code in the quote form and we will confirm. Jobs farther from the center of the valley are easier to fit in with a little notice, so reach out as early as you can when you have a date in mind.
Why neighbors choose Junk Buddy Utah
We are a local crew, and we try to make every job simple and predictable. You get an upfront quote before we lift anything, so there is no guessing about the bill. Our crew does all the lifting, loading, and carrying, and we sweep up the spot where your items were. We look for donation and recycling options before anything goes to the landfill, and we are honest about what we can and cannot take. If estate cleanout is not the right fit for your situation, we will tell you and point you in a better direction.
Estate Cleanout FAQ
Can we keep some items and have you take the rest?
Yes. Mark or separate what you are keeping. We only take what you point out.
Do you work with estate sale companies or realtors?
We can schedule around them. Many families have an estate sale first and call us to clear what remains.
Do I need to be there?
It helps to have a family member present, at least at the start. If that is not possible, we can discuss alternatives when you request a quote.
What happens to usable belongings?
Usable items are set aside for donation when local organizations are accepting them. Recyclables are recycled when possible.
